And then… crack.

It's not just your cup. Maybe it's a piece of your whole life.

Health. Love. Trust. The life that we thought was solid - and which suddenly cracks. We find ourselves there, in the middle of the debris, wondering: “And now?”

This is where Kintsugi begins.

What we would like to do — but which doesn't work

The instinct is to deny. Hide. Flee. Reglue quickly with any glue.

“Come on, let’s not talk about it anymore.”

But no. The beauty of Kintsugi begins exactly where we stop running from the crack.

The kintsugi master does not rush. He looks at the break. He breathes. He accepts that the vase will never be the same again — and this is precisely what opens the door to something rarer.

The truth that no one tells

Without accepting the fracture, we cannot repair it.

Pretending is tiring. Recognizing the crack is already an act of love towards yourself. It’s saying to yourself: "Yes, I was broken. But I'm still here."

And “still there,” that’s all. This is the starting point.

A gentle exercise for today

No big job. Just this:

Write a sentence that begins with: “The crack I dare not look at is…”

And let it come. You don't need to repair today. Just to see.

The quote that sums it all up

“It is in the crack that the light enters.” —Leonard Cohen

I've been carrying this phrase for years. She says in ten words what Kintsugi teaches in silence.

What if breaking wasn't the end?

What if this was the beginning of the real you?

Yes, like ceramics, sometimes we break. And we'd rather stick it straight with gold — but we have to pick up the pieces first.

That's Step 1. Not the repair. Recognition.

Want to go further?

This path of reconstruction — I have crossed it. And I have been supporting him through my art for years.

If you want to start gently, I have prepared "3 gestures gold" : three simple practices inspired by Kintsugi to get through moments of breakup without getting lost.
