Kintsugi, an art of resilience
What if injuries were not weaknesses, but places of beauty?
Kintsugi - literally "gold joint” - is an ancestral Japanese art which consists in repairing broken ceramics by emphasizing the cracks with gold powder. Rather than hiding the break, It is made visible, precious, unique.
Born in Japan In the 15th century, Kintsugi originated when a shogun asked that one of its broken cups be repaired. Rather than masking cracks, the craftsmen have chosen magnify With gold.
Since then, this art has become a symbol of patience, transformation and beauty in imperfection.
Kintsugi is not only a repair technique: It’s a philosophy.
He reminds us that:
- The scars are part of our history.
- What is broken can be reborn differently, but even more precious.
- Resilience transforms pain into light.
It is this philosophy that deeply inspires my work. Through my paintings, I explore the way in which tests, fractures and rebirths shape our humanity.
As in Kintsugi, my works celebrate beauty in flaws, strength in fragility, and joy found at the very heart of scars.
Kintsugi is much more than a technique: it is a metaphor living resilience.
My wish is that, in front of my works, everyone can remember that their own injuries can become a Source of strength and beauty
