La résilience, c'est quoi en fait ?

What is resilience what is it?

Perhaps you have already read this word everywhere: resilience. I talk about it all the time. But in the end you know what this term means exactly?

Observe this image, what does it evoke?

Definition of resilience in psychology

Resilience is like being a plant that grows in the concrete of life. It is this ability to bounce back in the face of difficulties, to adapt, to overcome the trials, to regain meaning in life and to flourish despite everything. It's a bit like being the superhero of your own story, with a cape made of perseverance and courage.

Resilience, how to do it?

Developing your resilience is a bit like building an emotional muscle. The more you train it, the stronger it becomes. Here are some keys to help you become the resilient superheroine that you are intended to be:

1. Practice acceptance

  • Like an artist who tames a white canvas, accepts difficult times. They are part of the story of your life, but they do not define who you are.

2. Cultivate mental flexibility

  • Be like a reed that folds with the wind rather than a rigid tree that breaks. Learn to adapt and find creative solutions to the challenges that stand on your way.

3. Nourish your body and your mind

  • Good food, exercise and meditation are powerful tools to strengthen your resilience. Take care of yourself as you would for your most precious work of art.
4. Cultivate your support network
  • Surround yourself with people who support and inspire you. Share your experiences and learn from their own. You will be surprised by the force that can emerge from a united community.

5. Famous your victories, even the little ones

  • Each step forward, as small as it is, deserves to be celebrated. It's like adding a touch of color to a canvas that comes to life under your fingers.

6. Patience and benevolence towards yourself

  • Rome was not built in one day, and your resilience career either. Be sweet with yourself and recognize the strength you need to move forward.
7. Cultivate your creativity
  • Since you are an artist, let your creativity be your guide. Art is a powerful way to express your emotions and transcend challenges.

8. Gratitude

  • Each day brings its share of lessons and small victories. Take a moment to recognize and appreciate the things that go well in your life.

Start by surrounding you with things that inspire you. For me, it's Kintsugi art, this beautiful metaphor for resilience. Take the broken pieces of your life and turn them into something beautiful!

Resilience: resistance, tolerance or resignation?

I am often asked if it is better to resist or be resilient. And if accepting is to resign yourself.

It is crucial to understand that accepting is in no way synonymous to resign yourself. Resistance is like trying to retain a fury river with its own hands. It's exhausting, grueling and often in vain. On the other hand, tolerance is like navigating this same river, accepting that there will be turmoil, tight turns and sometimes even storms.

Tolerance is this ability to accept things as they are, without abandoning its quest for growth and transformation. It is like being a fearless captain on an agitated ocean, keeping the course despite the raging waves.

On the other hand, to resign yourself is like giving up and letting the waves take you. Is to give up any possibility of change and evolution. It's like throwing in the towel before you even started the fight.

So remember: accepting is not resigning yourself. It is to find the strength in yourself to embrace reality, while keeping the determination of writing your own story of resilience, a work of living art and perpetual evolution.

Resilience: a key to advance

To develop your resilience is to train for an emotional marathon. It prepares you to face the ups and downs of life with grace and strength. Rather than just tolerating, you will prosper.

"In life, we cannot always choose what is happening to us, but we can always choose how we react." - Unknown
