Fragile, porcelain?
When we say porcelain, we think fragile. This delicate ceramics is often associated with vulnerability, but behind this fragile appearance, it reveals remarkable strength and resistance. It would even be one of the most resistant materials as they are!
I invite you to discover the teaching of this astonishing contradiction.
Strength
Did you know that porcelain is the most waterproof and hardest of dishes?
Cook at very high temperature, porcelain is very well with heat, stains, mold, frost, thermal shocks, scratches and does not discolore in light.
Porcelain can be cooked at extreme temperatures, which gives it resistance to heat and deformation.
Like her, our strength lies in our ability to adapt and strengthen us.
Our resilience career and the trials crossed, in spite of ourselves, made strong, we have developed a particular resistance to shocks and a life force which gives us an ability to bounce impressive. But there is also….
The fragility
If porcelain is resistant, what makes its fragility? Although porcelain can be considered resistant in certain aspects, it always has characteristics that make it relatively fragile compared to other materials.
- Its delicate composition: porcelain is mainly made up of Kaolin, a type of fine clay. This delicate composition makes porcelain more sensitive to shocks compared to stronger materials such as metal or stone.
- Its reduced thickness: porcelain is often made of thin layers to obtain its translucent and delicate aesthetic. This low thickness makes it more fragile, because it reduces resistance to impacts.
- Cooking at high temperature: although cooking at high temperature gives porcelain its solidity and heat resistance, it can also make the material more likely to crack due to the internal voltages created during the cooking process.
- Inappropriate manipulation: poor manipulation of porcelain, in particular shocks, excessive pressures or brutal manipulations, can cause cracks or even the complete break in porcelain.
From our difficult journeys, we can keep weaknesses. Despite our resilience, we sometimes remain more sensitive to certain situations or trials. And it's natural, there is no complex or guilt to have.
What makes our strength can also make our fragility if the tension point becomes too large or if we do not take care of the sometimes more delicate use for which we are made.
Indeed, porcelain is usually well opened, delicately decorated and reserved for exceptional use when "we take out the beautiful dishes". It is certainly not the one that is used on a daily basis. Its beauty, its value makes it a precious good that we take great care.
Strength and fragility: which makes the beauty of porcelain.
Usually, we oppose strength and fragility, but porcelain tells us that we can reconcile both. It is up to us to welcome both our strengths and our weaknesses.
Personally, I wanted to show this very strong face for me for a long time. Even at the end of the roll and in a state not possible, I wanted to show "that I was able to do everything - preferably alone ...". Accepting my weaknesses and my fragility despite all my strength of will was a first point, decisive for my healing journey.
And then, even if since I have been doing a long way, I still have physical and emotional weaknesses. Currently, just like beautiful dishes, I don't go out much, only on special occasions!
I don't have a "normal" rhythm, I don't have the life of Monsieur and Madame everyone. But this is not a problem, I just have to be what I am supposed to be: me. With my strengths and weaknesses. This is what you are called to be too. Just you.
The image of porcelain taught me this: my resilience journey made me an absolutely unique being. I don't have to be "like everyone", nor "like the others". I do not need to be in this strong or weak duality, but in this mixture of the two which gives an absolutely magnificent result. I honor my strength, but I also take into account my weaknesses and instead of blaming myself for that, I take a very special care.
The fragility of porcelain does not do something detestable, on the contrary, it gives it a particular value. So why despise our fragility? What if we changed our way of seeing our weaknesses and their restarts of love, honor, care?
Porcelain also teaches us that vulnerability can be a source of beauty and creativity. When it breaks or cracks, porcelain can be repaired with gold, a technique called kintsugi. The cracks become valued elements rather than imperfections to hide.
In the same way, our own scars and our vulnerability experiences can make us stronger and more unique. They allow us to grow, to connect with others and to create links of empathy and compassion towards those who pass or have gone through life tests.
I leave you some questions that can feed your personal reflection:
- What are the forces that I acquired throughout my life course?
- What are my weaknesses, the parts of me that I have to take special care?
- Do I accept and embraces all these facets of me, even those that I find "less well"?
- What would happen if I let go of this role of the “strong woman” that I play permanently?
- How my life course, with my strengths and my wealthies, makes me absolutely beautiful and unique?
To help you visualize your resilience career and honor your strengths and weaknesses, here is a Kintsugi vase Who will help you remind you on a daily basis.
